I grew up in in a small town named Winfield in DuPage County 30 miles west of Chicago. I lived in the same house my father built until I bought my first house after college. As a kid I always tried to skip school so I could help my dad frame houses, sweep and clean up job sites. Even during the summers off I worked as a roofer tearing off and felting roofs. I graduated from Rockford College in 2011 with a Bachelor of Business Administration.
After college, Illinois was still being hit hard by the recession. With college debt mounting I had to take any job openings I could find. I jumped around to a few entry level jobs but then caught my big break in an Auto Zone store when I was buying oil for my car. I bumped into my future boss and a year later was hired by Parksite in November 2012 to be a DuPont Building Envelope Specialist. Given my history growing up in the building trades, this was the perfect opportunity.
Almost immediately upon being hired, I was thrusted into three different HBAs, the SSHBA, NIHBA and HBAGC. Slowly but surely, I made my way up the local HBA ranks and entered the Board of Directors at HBAI. I am currently on the Board of Directors as Secretary for the SSHBA and 1st Vice President at the HBAI and Executive Officer.
Parksite has a great history with HBAI and I have helped carry that torch. I feel incredibly fortunate for the opportunity that Parksite has afforded me with the local HBAs and HBAI. The insight and relationships that have been created are invaluable. Throughout the past eight years, the members of my local and HBAI have become my second family. I look forward to meeting as many members as possible in the future.
