Election Day is next Tuesday and now is the time for all good builders and associates to come to the aid of their industry. NAHB estimates there are over 120,000 residents in Illinois who work in residential construction; an average of 6,700 workers in each of the 18 Illinois Congressional Districts.
Imagine the difference we will make if we move our members, associates, employees, and even their clients to vote for candidates who support new home ownership in the Land of Lincoln.
NAHB now makes it easy to know if your U.S. Representative is a Home Builder Hero. A Representative who has received a Defender of Housing Award or an NAHB Endorsement is a legislator we need to send back to Washington to defend and enhance our home building and remodeling industry.
Defender of Housing
The NAHB Defender of Housing Award recognizes courageous federal legislators who have demonstrated strong support for housing and NAHB positions on key issues facing the industry. The award, fashioned in the likeness of a traditional house key, is awarded biannually.
2018 NAHB Endorsements
NAHB non-partisan endorsements are based on the candidate or incumbent’s views and actions on policy and legislation most important to the home building industry and the families they serve.
In Illinois, the 2018 Defender of Housing Award was presented to the following Representatives:
Rep. Cheri Bustos (D-17) Rep. Rodney Davis (R-13)
Rep. Randy Hultgren (R-14) Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-16)
Rep. Darin LaHood (R-18) Rep. Peter Roskam (R-6)
NAHB also endorsed the following Representatives and are previous recipients of the Defender of Housing Award:
Rep. Mike Bost (R-12) Rep. John Shimkus (R-15)
Election Day is Tuesday, November 6, 2018. Be sure to get to the polls and support these Home Builder Heroes. And, make sure your employees have the time to vote and that they know our list of Heroes, too!
